WHAT TO EXPECT DURING YOUR INITIAL CONSULTATION
Plan on spending a couple of hours for your initial consultation. At the Bankruptcy Clinic, we invest in our clients from the very beginning. We believe the only way for anyone to make a good decision is to have the information needed to make that decision. When you leave your initial consultation, you should have your questions about bankruptcy answered.
When you first come in our office, you will be asked to fill out a couple of short intake forms. We have a quick questionnaire about your computer comfort. At the Bankruptcy Clinic, we use the internet for a lot of things. We want to know how comfortable you are with computers. After that, you will watch a short video that explains the basic bankruptcy process
When you are finished with the video, you will meet with the paralegal to do a quick review of your forms. When the forms are complete, you will meet with one of the attorneys. Based on the information you provided in the worksheets, the attorney will determine which chapter of the bankruptcy code is applicable in your case. The attorney will review your assets and your debts to help you understand what would likely happen in your particular case should you file bankruptcy.
After you have consulted with one of our attorneys in our office, you may receive permission to enter your data into our secure website. Please enter data only after consulting with our attorney.

You don't have to worry about trying to get credit reports! After we have been retained to file your bankruptcy, and at no additional charge to you, the Bankruptcy Clinic will download a combined credit report from two credit reporting agencies. The credit report conveniently downloads into our bankruptcy software, saving you the time and trouble of identifying information concerning your creditors and collectors. The cost for the combined credit report is included in our fee. But, if you want to get your own credit reports before you retain us, we have provided links to the major credit reporting agencies. Each agency charges their own fee for their credit report.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Because the consultation is an in depth evaluation of your financial condition and options, we ask that you find a babysitter for your consultation. Even through everyone at the Bankruptcy Clinic adores children, we have found that our clients find it difficult to concentrate on the important issues at hand if they are tending to their children. Please find someone to look after your children during your initial consultation.
